We’re not meant to do it all alone

I ran a leadership workshop recently that reminded me of something we often forget when we're busy: we’re not meant to do it all alone.

During the session we discussed collaboration, and the participants shared how much easier their work became when they invited others to help. It made me reflect on how often we, especially in large organisations, get caught up in our own tasks and forget the bigger picture. When we are busy, it can feel like it's easier just to crack on and do it yourself.

But when you involve other people, you’re not just lightening your own load—you’re inviting fresh perspectives, building your network, and developing your knowledge for the future. All the participants admitted that when they reached out to others they got a better solution than they would have come up with alone.

For me, it highlighted how collaboration isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s essential.

As you race to get everything done before Christmas, take a moment to look beyond your own task list. Could joining forces with others help you both/all get things done better?
